Thermoelectric Coolers |

The basic concept behind TECs is the peltier effect which
occurs whenever current passes through the curcuit of 2 dissimilar
semiconductors; depending on the current direction, the junction of the 2
conductors will either absorb or release heat, in direct proportion to the
current supplied. Thermoelectric cooling devices and systems are considered to be as good as compressor or absorber based refrigerators. However, thermoelectric cooling offers a number of advantages over traditional refrigeration methods, such as: -Solid state heat pumps have no moving parts and do not equire the use of liquids, gases or refrigerants. -High reliability - Kryotherm guarantees mean time between failure (MTBF) of 200,000 hours. -Precise temperature control -Relatively low cost and high effectiveness. -Operation in any orientation -Noiseless operation -Compact size and light weight makes TECs well suited for miniature coolers. |
