IEE are the manufacturers of the MLI 3D Security Sensor.
The 3D MLI technology uses a 'time of flight' principle realized by measuring
modulated light intensity (MLI). An illumination unit emits modulated infrared
light which is reflected by the objects in the field of view. An array of sensor
pixels then measures the reflected light. IEE's automotive occupant
classification product Dynadis is based on 3D vision sensing, as are innovative
new applications for example people counting in airports. |

Unlike other solutions on the market, these sensors reliably detects, counts and
categorizes people and objects, regardless of temperature or lighting conditions
in the monitored area. The sensor can still categorize a suitcase which has been
left out in the sun; a thermo-based vision system will most likely encounter
problems discerning between people and objects in this situation. |

Whether normal or emergency lighting or daylight, this 3D vision sensor will
always provide accurate information thanks to it's built in infrared
illumination unit, which measures 3D in real-time and is not influenced by
shadows or shade. |
